Hi there!

This blog is my place to share my passion for photographing the beautiful open spaces that exist within the densely populated San Francisco Bay Area.

I work in the field of water conservation by day and as a photographer on evenings and weekends.  The Growing Wild blog is a way for me to combine my passion for photography with my passion for responsible resource management—in this case the management of open spaces.

I believe that what we choose to do with our open spaces can have a big impact on our urban quality of life.  I also believe that our open spaces are part of what defines this striking region.  It is my hope that through visual documentation of the San Francisco Bay Area, I can inspire blog visitors to take note of our valuable open spaces—both the ones we have and the ones we could have.

I currently live on the sunny island city of Alameda, California.

Bravo on your blog and your continued artwork! I am always reminded of your first b/w work you made for our class – the photos on the rocky beach – Michigan? You have a beautiful sensibility, one of a visual poet in love with nature. You are making a very good life for yourself.

      Hi Sandy,
Thank you for your comment! Yes – those b/w photos were from Michigan. I loved that class and will never forget it-it was the start of a long journey making pictures. Thank you for being an encouraging a inspiring photography and art professor! I am very lucky to have had you as my teacher.
